This is the podcast version of my radio show - Photo Country. I sit down every week with fellow photographers, both amateur and professional, to discuss their craft and their approach to it - both as a hobby and as a business.
For Episode 1, I chat with Elton McAleer - a light painting addict turned professional photographer who specializes in taking headshots with own his street photography spin. The conversation gives an insight into the changing dynamics of the print industry and the way he views photography as a business. Have a listen! Rajeev: I'm good. I'm good. How about how's Christchurch?
Elton : Pretty chilly this morning pack the kids off to school and ready for another day of going hard out, trying to set up my new business.
Rajeev: good. good. So why don't you give the listeners a brief, intro about yourself and your background.
Elton: Sure. I've lived in New Zealand 17 years now. And I'm originally from London. I spent some time there working for Getty images which is where I really sort of. my stripes in not just being a photographer, but trying to understand what makes an image stand out in terms of composition and a visual impact.Because as they're probably the biggest image library in the world. but photography really, after that period has always been a hobby of mine. And once I moved to New Zealand we had kids after a few years and. Really photography for me was a bit of an escape from from being a father all the time.
